Alya Nazarali (Student At Law)

Alya Nazarali is a 2011 graduate of the University of Calgary Faculty of Law. She has joined Haryett & Co. as a student-at-law, after demonstrating a commitment to professionalism, the practice of criminal law, and skills essential to navigating a complex legal system.

Alya entered the law program at the University of Calgary after graduating from the University of Alberta Bachelor of Arts Program. Alya majored in Political Science, graduating in 2005 with distinction. While at the U of A, Alya was a Jason Lang scholarship recipient, a Rhodes Scholar nominee, and vice-president of the University of Alberta’s pre-Law Society. After achieving her Bachelor of Arts degree, Alya entered the professional workforce, developing fine skills in research and information organization and collection, essential skills to the practice of law. While at the University of Calgary, Alya participated in the Student Legal Assistance program, demonstrating a commitment to a valuable pro bono program.

Alya has demonstrated a commitment to the practice of criminal law, and is an essential component to Haryett & Co.’s team effort to provide comprehensive and knowledgeable legal advice. As the world of criminal law is constantly evolving and changing, Alya’s skills in research and writing have been instrumental in assisting us with staying informed and current in this ever expanding area of the law. She has demonstrated a calm and professional courtroom demeanor, often in the face of a frustrating and adversarial court system. Creative and diligent, Alya’s tireless efforts have contributed to excellent results for our clients.

Alya’s interests include travelling, cooking and she is a keen soccer fan. She is also bilingual, being fluent in French, and can assist with individuals who are more comfortable speaking French rather than English.
